ARTUR SOCHAN

Born in Poland in 1970, Artur Sochan lives and works in Warsaw. He is a visual artist, photographer and filmmaker whose artistic practice spans more than three decades.

His work encompasses a wide range of photographic and moving-image techniques — from large-format analogue photography and traditional photographic processes, through digital photography, to film and video art. Rather than limiting himself to a single medium, he treats photography, film and moving image as interconnected forms of artistic expression.

Sochan's artistic practice focuses on the human figure, identity, transformation and the relationship between reality and imagination. His works often combine photography, constructed imagery, film and experimental visual forms, creating spaces between the real and the imagined.

He studied at the Photographic Conservatory in Ostrava, Czech Republic, graduating in 1993, and at the Cinematography Faculty of the State Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Łódź in 1995. Between 1997 and 2002 he studied Film and Television Image Direction and Photography at the University of Silesia in Katowice, where he received his master's diploma with very good results. His studies were conducted under the artistic supervision of Professor Bogdan Dziworski.

 Since then, his practice has developed across photography, cinematography and film art, including documentary and experimental projects.

His works have been presented in exhibitions and film and art events, and are held in private collections..
