ARTUR SOCHAN

Born in Poland in 1970. He lives and works in Warsaw. He became passionate about photography when, left alone in a photographic library of a family friend – a forensic photographer, he saw the portraits of people who died tragically. That was his first encounter with art. Aged 10 he joined a socialist photography group in his home town and within a few months mastered the analogue photo shooting process.

In the 90s he studied photography in Conservatory Ostrava and in the faculty of photography of The Leon Schiller National Higher School of Film, Television and Theatre in Lodz. Subsequently, he took up film and film education in Katowice Film School in Bogdan Dziworski’s studio and graduated with a Master of Arts diploma.

Since then he has been poised between film and photography, yet still being emotionally closer to the latter. He keeps searching for the perfect portrait of “a human soul”…

Currently he takes photos for private collections.
